Farewell and good-luck

Goodbyes are not forever, they are not the end, they simply mean we’ll miss you

During the past 6 years as President of the Griqualand-West Rugby Union, Jannie Louw has certainly had a very positive impact on Rugby in the province.

When asked what his parting message for Tafel Lager Griquas was – he stayed true to the Northern Cape and answered – “As ons in die modder ry, dan trap ons nie rem nie”

It was exactly this positive outlook that has made some fond memories for the newly elected Member of the SA Rugby Executive.

Winning the SuperSport Rugby Challenge and ending 3rd in the Currie Cup during 2019. He was also an ever-present pillar in getting Griquas to Franchise status while driving the philosophy that Griquas must rather be seen as a small “big union” rather than a big “small union”. Jannie also established business principles to add value to people’s lives, while also creating a basis for healthy debating and decision making.

When asked about advice for his successor as President – which certainly will have big shoes to fill – “Do not mix Amateur and Professional Rugby with each other. Take thoughtful risks and know what it is that you don’t know – surround yourself with good people. Use this opportunity to add business value and involve sponsors as partners ”

From all of us at Tafel Lager G.W.R.U, we wish you well – we are certain huge success will follow.
