When sisters, Mignon and Maya du Plessis got the news that South Africa would go into total lockdown, they reacted by being proactive and inventive in the kitchen. Maya is a dietician, and well aware that South Africans love their baked products. So, with a touch of tradition they developed their own Ukuthula Home Chewy Choc Chip Cookies and handmade Meusli.

Ukuthula means “tranquility” in Xhosa. One could say that the aim of developing their products was to remind themselves and their customers daily to “stay calm and focus – this pandemic will pass.”

Ukuthula’s vision is to grow from a home based Stellenbosch business to a national brand. They’ve put great effort into developing a brand that is appealing and professional, and could easily be sold in high-end retail stores next to already established product lines.

With Aramex Store-to-Door Mignon and Maya are able to spread a little love and “tranquility” across the country in no time.
