The very first activation of the Wine2BIZ campaign kicked off in Klerksdorp, North West on 9 October with a live tasting presented by De Wet Viljoen, the wine maker at Neethlingshof Estate.
Established in 1692, Neethlingshof Wine Estate, which is nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands, is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa.
The estate occupies an incredibly privileged site, with ideal natural conditions, soils, slopes, altitudes and climate to produce a variety of great wines. All the grapes for the Neethlingshof wines are grown on the estate and all the wine is made, matured and bottled in the cellars of the estate.
The Wine2BIZ campaign was called into being in an effort to boost the South African wine industry which was greatly impacted by the Covid-19 lockdown and accompanying restrictions on the sale of alcohol.
The virtual tasting was attended by directors and senior personnel of Ultimate Theta Solutions, an agricultural trading company. It was a first for them all, and De Wet’s charming and unique way of presenting had everyone hooked. The tasting team particularly enjoyed the live interaction with De Wet as well as the fact that they could pose questions to him.
While all the wines were thoroughly enjoyed, the tasters were especially enthusiastic about the Gewürztraminer (2020), Malbec (2019) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2016) that proudly holds a gold medal obtained at the 2019 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.
Wine2Biz is an initiative by MicroHub, driven by Aramex Couriers, to connect South African Wines with South African Businesses for a personalised, online wine tasting experience. The main goals of the initiative are to grow business-to-business relationships, and increase the support for SA Wines from within our local business networks. Businesses now have the opportunity to bulk-buy directly from SA Wine Farms in support of the local Wine Industry – https://wine2biz.co.za/
Ultimate Theta Solutions directors, Ferdie and Hanli Roux, committed themselves in assisting Neethlingshof to enhance their sales by sharing e-mail messages and buying Christmas gifts for their clients from this estate. Individual team members also mentioned that they would order Neethlingshof wines online in future.
