THE CRAFTED BURGER

Along with pizza and hot dogs, hamburgers rank as one of the favorite foods. From quick-service restaurants to diners, and bars to cookouts, the hamburger is a staple on almost any menu. Why is it such a beloved food? Because the hamburger is customizable, portable, and versatile, finding itself as a gourmet item or a quick to-go meal.

The proof of the burger popularity is right there in the numbers. Consider these hamburger statistics:

* 71% of all beef consumed in restaurants is in the form of a burger

* 60% of all sandwiches sold are hamburgers

Considerable evidence suggests that either the USA or Germany (city of Hamburg) was the first country where two slices of bread and a ground beef steak were combined into a “hamburger sandwich” and sold. There is some controversy over the origin of the hamburger because its two basic ingredients, bread and beef, had been prepared and consumed separately for many years in different countries before their combination. Shortly after its creation, the hamburger quickly included all of its currently typically characteristic trimmings, including onions, lettuce, and sliced pickles. It is named after the German city of Hamburg.

At Zest Restaurant at Protea Hotel by Marriott we took the burger like any other traditional everyday meal and made it something unique and even more delicious.  You can stack your own burger with all the delicious toppings you ever wanted on a burger – we call it the Crafted Burger.  Upon ordering your burger you will receive a separate slip where you can tick of all the different ingredients you want to stack your burger with.

Because we understand that many like to eat healthy but still want to enjoy delicious everyday food, we also give you the option to replace your bun with a large mushroom.  A delicious option!
